The Lost Boys

Session One – Haunted Fortunes.....
Moonday the 29th of Pharast 4708AR

As promised Valen has drawn up a will for Zellara to sign. With great exertion she is able to sign it, but the effort means she fades from sight quickly. Triele suggests giving the will to a friend of hers in the Church of Abadar. They does this, and are surprised to find her friend is Kevkul – a half Orc priest of Abadar. He agrees to set things in motion regarding the will.

Castle Volshyenek is headed to, and it turns out Grau has an offer of work for them. A friend of his was beaten and robbed. Three of the thieves were caught but one got away with the loot. Tasar wishes to speak to the aggrieved person before saying yes. Grau brings them to his home and they get a description of the stolen items. After deciding they are both being honest, and are putting up the 50 gold themselves; it is agreed to help. Grau gives them the location and the group grab some supplies and head out of Korvosa……

Session One – Haunted Fortunes....
Sunday the 28th of Pharast 4708AR

This day is spent mostly at Zellara’s home in discussion with her and making plans. It is suggested that if Zellara is able to, she should sign a will, and if she likes the money can be donated to the up keep of the Orphanages. Zellara really likes this idea and Valen says he can create the document the next day.

The subject of Lamm is the main topic of conversation, and where his next base maybe. Eels End is mentioned again and Zellara says from her investigations she doesn’t think he is based there but he may have some sort of link to the Shiver.

Where Triele returns to the Cathedral, there is a note from Grau asking if everyone could meet him as soon as they can at Castle Volshyenek.

Starday the 27th of Pharast 4708AR

Returning the day to the Cathedral of Pharasma, Lysana and Efah had agreed to officiate the funeral of Zellara. They observe Varisian traditions, and Zellara said afterwards it was quite moving. Efah speaks to everyone about the Harrow deck, drawing the conclusion if it is able to work in the Cathedral, it must have the consent of Pharasma’s grace.

The rest of the day is spent selling the considerable hall they took from the Old Fishery. Everyone’s purse is bulging and in Yav’s case, has something in her bag again. People aren’t slow in spending the new found wealth. New armour for Tasar, and Yava buys some masterwork helping opening door stuff from a very nice man. Triele makes a large donation to the Cathedral which is greatly received,

Fireday the 26th of Pharast 4708AR

Returning to Zellara’s place, a disturbing change has occurred. There is no sign of the fortune telling room they sat in two days ago. The house looks like no one has been there in some time and feels almost derelict. People are concerned that Zellara may have deceived them but it is decided to continue with the raid on the Old Fishery.

Waiting for sunset, The Lost Boys descend upon Lamm’s hideout. Carefully going down the side of the building, a barge is spotted moored to the side of the building. Carefully investigating it, Tasar pulls Valen out of the path of a giant spider, which is killed by a well placed arrow. Searching the barge, it is empty but a hidden crawl space is found which links into a secret entrance to the Old Fishery. Quietly going through, a large room is entered. There is some rubbish in the room, some manacles are placed over a drop into the river, and above them a trap door leading to the room above, a shark swims slowly around looking hopefully at everyone. A woman who is chained up is found on the far side of the room. She is sleeping and looks to have been severely beaten and raped. She is freed and woken up, she is mostly unresponsive but lets Tasar lead her to safety on the barge. Triele scans the room and sees some magic is present in the adjoining room. Yavallana picks the lock and moves inside. A dirty bedroom is found and three magic items are locked in a chest and one in a wooden hat box with has flies around it. Yav carefully opens the hat box and peers inside, she pulls away quickly and starts throwing up. Triele being wise and caring holds her hair back so as to keep sick out of it. The hat box when emptied contains two items – a set of exquisite Harrow cards and the head of Zellara. The head appears to have been there at least a week or so.

Tasar picks up the Harrow cards and hears Zellara speaking. The others hear Tasar having a conversation with himself. Zellara then appears and then speaks to everyone one. She apologizes for the way she contacted everyone but felt if she told them she was already dead they wouldn’t have trusted her. She says Lamm had her kidnapped and brought here, she was tortured and then killed. It is silently agreed to trust Zellara for the moment, at which point Zellara also reveals by touching a Harrow card to a magic item, she can identify up to three such items a day. Deal sorted! She then reveals the have found a wand of magic missiles, oil of silver sheen and a vial of keen edge.

The Lost Boys return to street level to continue the search of the old Fishery. Going through one of the single doors a room where the children are sleeping is found. A creaky step on the stairs seems to wake up a dog in another room, who in turn wakes his owners. Valen uses his Colour Spray spell to great effect stunning the dog and two guards. Yavallana kills another with a well placed arrow and Tasar takes another day with a slash of his scimitar,Raven using her spell to make each them miss an attack. Triele beakens to another guard who turns tail and flees. In an effort to extract information from the guards, the two dead are fed to the shark in the floor below. One guard breaks as the other holds firm. Triele reveals her extremely scary Drow side as she interrogates the two men. Ultimately they reveal nothing and end up as tomorrows shark poo.

The Lost Boys leave with the woman and the orphans and head to the cathedral of Pharasma. Turning a corner a member of the City Watch is almost bumped into. After satisfying himself they aren’t up to anything bad, Grau (who isn’t a rapist) offers to escourt them. He mentions a Shoanti delegation has just arrived at the Cathedral and maybe they would take the Shoanti orphan they have rescued. At the cathedral, Lysana quickly starts to organize help for the Orphans and the children. Three Shoanti arrive to collect the Shoanti child. Thousand Bones is an old Shoanti who is seemingly blind, he is led by Gaekin a young Shoanti male. The third Shoanti is probably the largest human they have ever seen. His name is Krojun-Eats-What-He-Kills.

Session One – Haunted Fortunes.
Oathday the 25th of Pharast 4708AR

Everyone met up the next day at the Cathedral of Pharasma. Yava looked a lot better today, having had a good bath, a good sleep and some more food. Having been granted the use of a training room, people try out various weapons and armour to see what they are comfortable with. Some spells are cast to show effects, and people discuss their strengths and abilities.

In the afternoon it is decided to visit the Old Fishery where Lamm is holed up, and get an idea what it looks like. At least five children are spotted, including a Shoanti child, and four guards keeping watch over them.

After watching for a while, they decide to visit a nearby tavern as it turns out today is Triele’s birthday. Valen arranged for a delivery of a 122 Black Roses (with all the thorns removed) for her birthday present. A few drinks are enjoyed before people decide to call it quits for the day.

Wealday the 24th of Pharast 4708AR

On the back of the Harrow card you received is the following message “I know what Gaedren has done to you. He has wronged me as well. I know where he dwells, yet cannot strike at him. Come to my house at 3 Lancet Street at sunset. Others like you will be there. Gaedren must face his fate, and justice must be done.”

Four people arrive at the address. Triele, a Drow priestess of Pharasma arrives first. Three other people arrive at the same time; Valen has Drow blood running through Elven veins, he recognises Triele and gives her greeting. Tasar, an Aasimar bearing Elven features recognises Raven, a hooded Human. Quickly going inside, they each reveal they have had a Harrow card inviting them to this address. The room is dressed as you would expect to see a fortune tellers place of work, full of drapes and incense. A further note on the table reads “Thank you for coming. I have had to step out for a bit, but shall return shortly. Please have a seat while you wait. The basket contains food and drink for you.”

After spending a few moments in conversion, maybe slightly worried about the strangers they are seated with, they pause when the sound of the door opening reaches their ears. A middle aged Varisian woman (with a slight of Cheliax) enters the room and introduces herself as Zellara. She is about to sit down when she stops and looks around as if something is missing. She produces a Harrow deck and flips through it, the cards seeming to fly across her fingers. She decides on a certain card, and then makes a kind of stabbing motion with it. It disappears, and a yelp is heard from across the room. A very dirty and ill looking Elf sits bolt upright, and looks accusingly around the room. Her confusion at where and when she is, is evident. After orientating herself, she introduces herself as Yava.

Zellara waits for everyone to readjust and then tells her tale.

“Thank you for coming, my friends, and for putting up with my unconventional method of contacting you. I have reason to remain hidden, you see—a terrible man would see great harm done to me if he knew I was reaching out for help. This is a man you know, for he has done something terrible to each of you as well. I speak, of course, of Gaedren Lamm, a man whose cruelty and capacity to destroy the lives of those he touches are matched only by his gift for avoiding reprisal. You see, a year ago, his thieves stole my Harrow deck, from me. It is important to me, an heirloom passed down through a dozen generations, and also my sole means of support. When pickpockets stole it, my son, Eran, tracked them down.
The thieves were in the employ of Gaedren Lamm, and in reward for finding them, Gaedren murdered my son. I sought help from the Guard, but they turned me away.

And so I asked around. I paid bribes. I consulted a replacement Harrow deck for advice. And recently, I was rewarded—I found out where Gaedren dwells. He can be found in an old fishery north of here at Westpier 17, where he trains his abducted children to be pickpockets and counts his stolen treasures. And now, I need your help. I cannot hope to face this man on my own, and the Guard moves so slowly that if I were to go to them, Gaedren would certainly know of their coming well in advance. Even if they did arrest him—what guarantee would I have he would be punished? This criminal has evaded the law for decades. But you know of these frustrations as well, for word on the street has it that Gaedren has wronged each of you, too. So there we are. It is time for him to pay.”

Have you seen this man?
No reward

Setting the Scene

It’s early spring in Korvosa, it’s Wealday the 24th of Pharast in the year 4708AR

A strong, fresh breeze speeds across Conquerors Bay, it rises up to the the two highest points in Korvosa – Castle Korvosa atop the Grand Mastaba and the Great Tower just to the North West of the castle. The breeze carrying the scent of the ocean, then spreads out over the rest of the city leaving Korvosa feeling clean and new. It whips over the other districts heralding in a spectacular, bright red sunrise in the early hours of the morning.

The smell of burning wood from hearth fires begins to creep across the city, as does the noise of citizens rousing from their slumber as Korvosa starts another day. A flight of Sable Company guards mounted on their impressive and ever vigilante Hippogriffs, swoop back into their home and headquarters in the Great Tower, soon to warm themselves beside roaring fires after their chilly pre dawn patrol. The Korvosan watch that has been out in the differing districts on their Dawn Watch, return quite tired to Castle Volshyenek, making their reports before catching up on some well deserved sleep.

Merchants and traders begin moving and setting up brightly covered stalls, preparing a vast variety of food and drinks for a multitude of pallets and races. Trade goods of all shapes, sizes and description are put on show, with the more exotic and rare items held in the many stores. Livestock markets begin to ready themselves for a day full of haggling and bartering ahead. Fishermen returning with the pre dawn catch, readying to sell freshly caught clams, salmon, trout, oysters and lobsters to the local taverns and restaurants with the very best food being sent to the Castle and then the Acadamae. Crews on moored ships begin the task of loading and unloading cargos, and inspecting their ships in case repairs are needed.
A solitary Pseudo Dragon darts back to its nest after catching a juicy fat rat for breakfast, either to savour for it self or to feed its family high in the rooftops. Or maybe it had attacked and killed an Imp that had escaped from the Acadamae. An ominous noise rumbles up from the sewers, most likely an Otyugh dealing with a particularly nasty piece of sewage.

Welcome to your campaign!
A blog for your campaign

Wondering how to get started? Here are a few tips:

1. Invite your players

Invite them with either their email address or their Obsidian Portal username.

2. Edit your home page

Make a few changes to the home page and give people an idea of what your campaign is about. That will let people know you’re serious and not just playing with the system.

3. Choose a theme

If you want to set a specific mood for your campaign, we have several backgrounds to choose from. Accentuate it by creating a top banner image.

4. Create some NPCs

Characters form the core of every campaign, so take a few minutes to list out the major NPCs in your campaign.

A quick tip: The “+” icon in the top right of every section is how to add a new item, whether it’s a new character or adventure log post, or anything else.

5. Write your first Adventure Log post

The adventure log is where you list the sessions and adventures your party has been on, but for now, we suggest doing a very light “story so far” post. Just give a brief overview of what the party has done up to this point. After each future session, create a new post detailing that night’s adventures.

One final tip: Don’t stress about making your Obsidian Portal campaign look perfect. Instead, just make it work for you and your group. If everyone is having fun, then you’re using Obsidian Portal exactly as it was designed, even if your adventure log isn’t always up to date or your characters don’t all have portrait pictures.

That’s it! The rest is up to your and your players.
